Roaster Notes
Cooperativa Triunfo Verde is owned by 440 smallholder farmers in Jaltenango, Chiapas. Situated within Triunfo Biosphere, farmers use organic agricultural practices to promote environmental conservation and biodiversity. For the last 25 years, Triunfo Verde has worked toward making coffee farming a viable livelihood for its owners by offering accessible, low cost capital and promoting their quality and technical standards to obtain better prices. They also invest in gender equity, technical assistance, holistic health, and food self-sufficiency programs.
They took a pioneering approach to sourcing coffee through a relationship model, placing emphasis on direct trade as a way to support thriving livelihoods for producers at origin. They earned Roast Magazine's prestigious 'Roaster of the Year' award in 2013, are home to the first barista union in the USA and are currently transitioning to a worker-owned company. Gimme! Coffee roasts all their coffee on two Probat drum-style roasters at their facility in Ithaca, NY.
