The Ace: El Alto Costa Rica
Orange, Marshmallow, Honey Graham
El Alto White Honey could be a s'more wrapped up in a coffee! This single origin from southern Costa Rica is roasted to a medium and suited to any brew style from espresso to filter and even cold brew. Now here comes the s'more — watch for notes of marshmallow, graham cracker, and chocolate in the cup.
"We look forward to Grace Calderón's coffee every year. This small one-hectare farm (just around 2.5 acres) nestled 1885 meters above sea level is home to the Caturra varietal managed by Grace. Because it means we can create The Ace: El Alto White Honey. The processing method widely used in Costa Rica is the honey method. The skin and most of the fruit is removed, leaving a thin layer of pulp behind to soak for a short time activating a mild fermentation. The final result is a beautiful single origin, perfect for any brew method, that tastes of marshmallow, graham cracker and chocolate."
Ritual Coffee Roasters prides itself on sourcing from smallholder farmers, paying sustainable base prices, and providing financial incentives for hitting quality targets. This relational practice represents not only a promise to partner with producers long term but it drives quality right into our kitchens and nooks. Sure, there's a lot of science, procedures and maticulous details that impact the flavor and quality in the both unroasted and roasted coffee, before you grind and brew but that hasn't stopped them from making that conversation and it's results approachable for the everyday coffee drinker. Bringing that kind of value is an intentional practice from helping to give coffee producing regions the ability to reinvest in their farms, to creating better coffee for everyone; starting from that special little seed to your morning ritual cup.
