Colombia Pink Bourbon Decaf
Jasmine Tea, Grape
Not your average Decaf, with flavour notes of Jasmine Tea & Purple Grape. The caffeine is removed by gently steaming the coffee seeds, followed by repeated bathing in a naturally derived solvent made from sugar cane and local fruits. This process combined with the unique pink bourbon variety yields a cup that is floral and fruit driven. Pink Bourbon was initially believed to have originated from the cross-pollination of red and yellow Bourbon trees. It was only later that this theory was disproved after genetic testing. Pink Bourbon s roots are from Ethiopia, its beauty begins on the tree with a light pinkish hue when ripe and ready to pick. Things only get more interesting when it comes to cup quality - think complex fruits and white flowers, reminiscent of the Geisha variety. Gabriel Castaño is the GodFather of Pink Bourbon. It was at his farm La Granada in Acevedo, Huila that the variety was first found. Gabriel generously then shared them with other producers all over Southern Huila, and now the world. This decaffeinated Pink Bourbon is processed with the same care as which it was grown.

Mecca was founded in 2005 and immediately set out to answer the big questions that are often asked in the specialty coffee industry. “Who grew this coffee?” “How much did they get paid?” and “Why does this lot taste so different from the last one?” Their pursuit of transparency at the farm level has led them to offer a higher level of service and quality to their customers across Australia. Uncompromising standards from day one is the reason that they have thrived in the specialty coffee industry since.
